COLORSPORE
The consortium includes microbiologists, biochemists and food bio-technologists and will determine the identity of new carotenoid preparations and the bacteria that produce them. The nutritional value of these bacteria will be assessed and a risk-benefit assessment made using modern metabolomic technologies as well as traditional toxicology in order to designate the prototypes as QPS (ie, qualified presumption of safety). Bio-processing of these bacterial carotenoid preparations will eliminate traditional chemical synthesis and the use of organic solvents. Also the delivery system will utilise a synergistic biological matrix making it a sustainable source.

ATHENA
The overall objective of the ATHENA project is to provide a robust scientific foundation for improved dietary recommendations that include foods with high levels of anthocyanins and related polyphenols to promote health and to protect against chronic disease. Investigations need to be extended to human studies, and a number of questions have arisen that need to be addressed for understanding to be formulated into effective, accurate dietary recommendations and preventive medicine strategies.

Doğal Katkılar, Fonksiyonel Bileşenler ve Sağlık Mükemmeliyet Merkezi’nin amacı; yerel kaynaklarımızdan ve gıda proses atıklarından biyoaktif özelliklere sahip gıda katkı ve yardımcı maddelerini elde etmek ve pilot ölçekli üretim yapabilmektir. DOKAM ile katma değeri, teknoloji ve bilgi yoğunluğu yüksek ürün ve hizmetler ile gıda endüstrisinde doğal katkı maddeleri konusunda yenilik üretilmesi ve üreticilik kapasitelerinin geliştirilmesi hedeflenmiştir.

FLORA
The main objective of this project is to provide a more measured scientific foundation to the understanding of the role of flavonoids and related phenolics in protecting against disease. We aim to provide recommendations for daily intake and a directory of foods which can serve as dependable sources of flavonoids, in publicly-accessible formats as direct deliverables from this project.
